HEAD OF THE SAIL

Is the very top of the sail. The grommet located at the head of the sail is used to pull the sail up the mast using the main halyard

FOOT OF THE SAIL

The very bottom portion of the sail.

LUFF OF THE SAIL

The leading edge portion of the sail.

LEECH OF THE SAIL

The outside trailing edge of the sail.

TACK OF THE SAIL

The lower leading edge corner of the sail. The grommet located at the tack of the sail is used to pull the on the Cunningham or Downhaul.

CLEW OF THE SAIL

The aft lower corner of the sail. The grommet located in the clew of the sail attaches the Outhaul to tighten the foot of the sail.

Sailing is an activity for any age. It can meet varying needs at various times throughout one’s life. And it’s never too late to learn!
